U-bahn wonderland
Patrick Kauffmann is the kind of photographer who manages to give beauty to common places. His photographs show a different point of view of the everyday life such as the Berlin subway by bringing out the colours of the platforms.
When the Danish photographer is not shooting for magazines and companies, he likes to focus on unusual places, such as the abandoned amusement Spree Park in Berlin - bringing an uncommon bloom into places you could easily reject. Indeed, in his Berlin series, the U-Bahn seems to be transformed into a Bauhaus wonderland, playing with the contrast of colours and focusing on the structure. Yellow, orange, black, grey, blue and turquoise coexist together in a space usually filled only by travellers.
Kauffmann is actually asking the observer to rethink his daily environment, there is always something to catch, so next time you take the subway pay attention - not to mind the gap between the train and the platform, but to focus on the fascinating environment around you.
