A few years ago - in Lodown issue #71 to be exact - we had a big feature on Krautrock, its renaissance in modern (dance) music and its influence on today’s bands and producers.

What could have been a fad back then now clearly depicts, that the pioneers of the weird, psychedelic and electronic approach still seem to be the blueprint for many of today’s producers. Labels, such as Emotional Response, ESP Institute, Golf Channel or International Feel and artists like James Holden, Secret Circuit, Brain Machine, half of the scandinavian disco posse and many more are heavily influenced by Kraut-, Psych- and Progrock, bringing it onto a new level. If you flip through our monday mixtape series you’ll see NEU!, Can, Amon Düül and the likes in every second mix, Fog Puma’s mix, some weeks ago, was even a bow to Kraut.

Back then we asked some of the featured artists and friends to dig deep in their crates for their personal faves, their most precious material, the dusted but expensive black plates, the rare and obscure material, to do a little mixdown for your listening pleasure. It would be a waste to not have those mixes up on our Soundcloud, so we’re uploading them every now and then, starting off with Lodown’s own Skism, followed later by Xaver von Treyer of Supersoul Recordings, Mathias "Munk" Modica of Gomma.
