There are many local football tournaments happening each year around the globe, but they certainly seem to exponentiate in both, quantity and intensity, in the years the World Cup is on. 

This summer, adidas isn’t only celebrating the 13th installment of the NYC-born football institution by the name of FANATIC, but the brands partnership with the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil as well - which makes it the perfect opportunity to expand the FANATIC tournament beyond the borders of the Big Apple, as corresponding international events in Berlin and Tokyo will be hosted between July 5th and July 20th over the course of three weeks. What they all have in common besides displaying a heavy passion for football though is that each competition is basically bursting with teams founded by local tastemakers – such as Opening Ceremony, V / Visionaire, ACNE and the Standard Hotel in New York or Neighborhood, Bape, United Arrows in Tokyo.

The teams will compete in a bracket, match system throughout a day-long event, with playoffs and finals. On July 5th, the FANATIC event in Berlin in particular will be turned into a playground for the who is who of the European (pop)cultural circuit, as Berlin based teams such as Easybombers, Soto, Cookies and Arsenal Lodown are facing opponents from Paris (Colette), London (Soho Warriors), Copenhagen (Wood Wood) and Moscow (Fott).
