The five-day experimental festival Atonal launches this week on August 19, delivering audio-visual live acts, art installations, discussion panels and workshops.
The impressive line up includes artists such as the collective Outside The Dream Syndicate reunited after a 20 year old break (avant-garde video artist, experimental filmmaker, musician/composer, sound artist, Tony Conrad and kraut rock legends Faust), Shackleton presenting the premiere of his “Powerplant“, the premiere of Nine Inch Nails’ Alessandro Cortini and Lawrence English‘s new collaboration Immediate Horizon Live, Contort‘s Samuel Kerridge, Jacek Sienkiewicz, Mogwai’s Barry Burns and Raster Noton’s Kangding Ray aka SUMS, Ben Frost, Regis and Ancient Methods‘ new project Ugandan Methods and many more.
Atonal’s permanent home is an abandoned power plant in central Berlin which has been turned into a darkly majestic industrial complex for the duration of the festival. This multi-leveled, multi-staged cathedral is host to every performance, installation, screening and aftershow party in the program.
This is your chance to win a pair of tickets for the festival. Just drop an email to info(at)lodownmagazine(dot)com, with the subject 'Atonal', stating your full name. The winner will be notified until Tuesday August 18th, 6pm.
