Cleon Peterson

Blood & Soil

LA-based artist Cleon Peterson's work is heavily populated with large, neckless figures wreaking havoc in a nightmarish world. Mirroring American suppression and violence of the past and present, his new exhibition “Blood & Soil“, consisting of several paintings, bronze sculptures and one large-scale red sculpture, is a blunt crticism at the country's current government. The subjects of Peterson's artworks indulge in savage brutality or are portrayed in a propaganda-like manner that gives off a somewhat threatening vibe.

Kept in black, white and red, the series is meant to depict ‘a gray world where lawbreakers and law enforcers are one in the same; a world where ethics have been abandoned in favor of personal entitlement.

The exhibition can be viewed from July 8 to August 5, 2018 at Over the Influence Los Angeles.
