COMIC STRIPS

AUCTION AT SOTHEBY’S IN PARIS

Following the success of the Jean-Arnold Schoofs Collection, Sotheby's just announced its next auction of comic strips on 14 May 2016. With a rich catalogue of nearly 260 lots and original drawings and plates, the sale will feature the greatest European and American creators in the genre, including Robert Crumb, Philippe Druillet, André Franquin, Edgar P. Jacobs, Jim Lee, Milo Manara, Gir-Moebius, Winsor McCay, Jean-Claude Mézières and Chris Ware.

In 2015, Sotheby’s achieved more than 23 world auction records for leading comic strip artists from around the globe. Among them was Hergé, whose historic double-page spread, King Ottokar's Sceptre, garnered €1.6 million, breaking the world record for a double-page original by the author.
