cobain: montage of heck

Director Brett Morgen basically revolutionized non-fiction filmmaking with “The Kid Stays In The Picture“ - the doc about legendary Paramount producer Robert Evans - thanks to a highly imaginative mix of archival footage, interviews and animation. Thirteen years and a handful of widely acclaimed docs later he surpassed himself big time once again with “Cobain: Montage Of Heck“.

The film chronicles the life and tragic death of Kurt Cobain through a whirlwind montage of never-seen-before footage, animation, songbooks, photography, personal notes and whatnot. This is a heavily intense, forward-thinking and quintessential doc - regardless if you actually ever were into Nirvana or not. Already one of this years best!
