Vienna Calling

With 2 days of creativity, insightful talks and connective side events, Forward Festival is returning to the newly renovated Gartenbaukino in Vienna on October 7th and 8th for the comeback in their home town. The program promises a variety of speakers and lots of inspiration from all different branches of the creative industries with speakers like Stefan Sagmeister, Annie Atkins, Martin Parr, Johann König, Grilli Type and many more as well as creative workshops and networking events.

For 2021, Forward Festivals are focusing on the comeback of creativity to the real world from the digital world. “Our mission is reconnecting the creative community. Especially after lockdowns have confined us physically and made us realize how much we missed the We, bringing together the community and encouraging creative exchange is more important than ever. With the Forward premiere in Berlin we managed to unite the international as well as local scene and really could feel an inspiring energy throughout the Festival”, says Forward founder and curator Othmar Handl.


Design-icon Stefan Sagmeister will be presenting his brand-new talk “How to have an idea”and will also present the works of two aspiring creatives in the course of his talk. Furthermore, film graphic designer Annie Atkins will talk about working with Wes Anderson and digital filmproduction in times of lockdowns and gallerist Johann König will present the concept behind his new art space in Vienna “Das Kleine Haus der Kunst” as well as photographer Martin Parr, type foundry Grilli Type, Nikita Diakur, Ortnerschinko, controversial photographer Mashi and many more.
