JEAN TINGUELY

SUPER META MAXI

Marking the 25th anniversary of the artist’s death, Düsseldorf-based Museum Kunstpalast presents the multifaceted œuvre of Jean Tinguely (1925-1991), co-founder of Le Nouveau Réalisme and one of the most original artists of his time.

Offering a comprehensive insight into Tinguely’s fascinating and joyfully sensuous work, the exhibition also illuminates his collaborations with fellow artists including Daniel Spoerri, Eva Aeppli, Yves Klein, Bernhard Luginbühl and Niki de Saint Phalle—his long term partner whom he ultimately married. 'Super Meta Maxi' gathers more than 90 loans from museums and private collections. Works exhibited range from Tinguely’s early, tenderly poetic wire sculptures and kinetic reliefs to his famous 'painting machines' and expansive installations, including the monumental installation 'Grosse Méta-Maxi-Maxi Utopia'.

On display from April 23 to August 14, 2016 at Museum Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf.
