LILI DUJOURIE
FOLDS IN TIME
Dujourie’s work combines influences of the Flemish Primitives with the personal artistic approach she developed amongst such artists as Daniel Buren, Hanne Darboven, Gilbert and George, Jef Geys and Guy Mees. After debuting with steel and color objects, her practice shifted to still photography and video, where she embraces not only painterly and sculptural questions, but also gender and identity-related issues.
The exhibition's two-part format derives from Dujourie’s artistic practice, in which the notion of the 'fragment' plays an essential role. To see the entire show one must travel in the steps of the artist, 60 kilometers from land to sea or vice versa.
