Michael Rault

new day tonight

If there's a label raising expectations to a specific sound then it certainly must be Daptone. Now Michael Rault is here to prove us all wrong, since his forthcoming album “It's a New Day Tonight“ sounds as if Mild High Club is jamming with John Lennon's ghost.

A new teaser of the rad things to come just arrived in the form of the slow-burning quasi title track “New Day Tonight“, which sees Rault having a drug-hazed groundhog day experience during a night out.

“It was the first song I wrote for the album, so it's very near and dear to my heart. Lyrically, it's a semi-autobiographical tale of someone who only feels good in the evening. I like the fact that the song is almost completely describing a positive nightlife experience, but the opening line implies that it's coming as a major relief after spending much of the day depressed."

“It's a New Day Tonight“ is out on May18 via Wick Records/Daptone.
