MONDAY MIXTAPE: il est vilaine

inspiration is everywhere

Why write a text about Il Est Vilaine when there's already an existing one that somehow sums it all up perfectly:

"The duo Il Est Vilaine believes that their first track breathes the masculine fragrance of some James Dean stepping out of a backroom. Itʼs a lot worse. With deep bass and highly pitched gimmicks, the duo is not so much of an electronic pun, rather a dancing machine combining the efficiency of good old Acid House and the hypnotic features of productions such as remote Kill The DJ or Tim Paris. At once wild and western, urban and mystical, we are happily confronted with a sound, an identity - a rare occurrence in these days of neat clean Electro-Pop. Eschewing the fashion and uniformity of some sterile purism, Il Est Vilaineʼs first record, released by Dialect, is quite perfect, like a road movie with Dennis Hopper on Akiraʼs bike. And it would end at a rave party in some warehouse, obviously."

We're proud to have them on our show with an hour of obscure, hard to define perverted off-dancefloor-on-the-dancefloor misfit-anthems.

Watch out for some upcoming remixes for Golden Bug on La Belle and another remix on Kill The DJ we shouldn't talk about yet, but we'll give you the hint of a three-letter band with a female singer connected to the label and a sought-after duo from Israel is involved. Their latest remix for Gatos Negros is out on Rotten City Records and is more than worth being checked out! Their next EP will follow sometime later this year.

Keep updated with the guys via Facebook and Twitter.
