Whatever people might say about Soundcloud at the moment, it was - and still is - a great source for finding great music and amazing artists, hands down, no doubt. Mori-Ra is one of those finds. We’re following this guy for about three years now and whenever he uploads another one of his superb, sometimes obscure edits, we’re startin’ to sweat. Not even a single one is considerable average. He never misses it. Same with his mixes. So it was about time to have him on our show.

Mori-Ra, a nice guy from Osaka, started his musical career in his early twenties, when he was a drummer, but also delivered electronic sounds and tape manipulations for his band that was a regular at a live venue in Osaka run by Seiichi Yamamoto of Boredoms. From his experience as an engineer in recording studios of TV and radio stations he mastered techniques on tape editing, recording, selecting and handling four open reel decks simultaneously. DJing was the natural evolution. Under the theme “Obscure and fantasy-like electronic sound for every generation and genre“,  he has been running the party called PURMOOON as his main base for more than a decade now. His edits are sought after by the likes of Coyote’s Magic Wand label, Macadam Mambo (as a collaboration with Tokio Matt) and Rotating Souls where his split with Sad Ghost is now a premium price seller at Discogs.

He’s busy responding to a good number of requests from abroad and dedicating all his private time to produce and DJ „which I find very fulfilling“, as he states. „The offer from Lodown is such an exciting occasion too - it is much appreciated. Thank you.“
