MONDAY MIXTAPE: PAUL JENKS

"To-Night"

Every once in a while it happens that somebody’s sending us an email giving us props to our monday mixtape selection, saying he’s enjoying it, you start to chitchat and all of a sudden you find out there’s a good guy behind it, a great DJ with taste, a mover and shaker. Well, one thing leads to another and a few weeks later you’ll end up listening to a mix that perfectly fits to the monday mixtape. That’s what happened with today’s contribution by Paul Jenks.

Paul Jenks co-runs long standing Manchester based late night jam Cutloose and the more irregular horizontal Sunday Séance with Wes Hopwood. Described for those with an open mind, the understated party has been running for over 6 years and with a discerning music policy and selective approach to guests they have built up a loyal following. Recent guests have included the likes of Mark Seven, Idjut Boys, Cos/Mes and Lexx. Currently throwing some more intimate, private based jams in lofts, African cafes and basements they have Ibizan legend Leo Mas playing on 1 November with the return of the Redlight Records and Music from Memory crew due in December - happy days ahead!

"As the autumn shadows deepen this mix is a throwback to warmer days with echoes of Nassau vibes, British soul, heavy NYC dubs and island disco!"
