The Nixon Surf Challenge returns this year from May 30 – June 5, this time taking place in Ireland, after a warmer tournament last year in the South China Sea’s of the Far East.

An unlikely candidate, Ireland has become a world class destination for surfing, especially big wave surfing. It has a wild coastline and frigid waters, but when the swell pumps the waves rival anywhere in the world.

And a Guinness after a session makes it an ever more seductive idea.

Representing the Emerald isle is Fergal Smith, world renowned big wave surfer, eco activist and farmer. He’ll be joined by a line up of competitors from all across the globe.

The tournament is in partnership with Monster Energy, Reef, Jam and Lomography.
