POSITIONS BERLIN
at Kaufhaus Jandorf, Berlin
From 18th to 21st September 2014, the first edition of POSITIONS BERLIN will take place. In this art fair Kristian Jarmuschek and his team are offering selected international exhibitors the opportunity to present the most significant artistic positions of their programmes in the context of Berlin Art Week.
Continuing the tradition of its predecessor, POSITIONS BERLIN will open 10 years after the founding of Preview Berlin, which at that time served as a satellite fair for fresh galleries, in parallel to art forum berlin. Many of the partners involved back then have since become established names, and this former major fair no longer exists. This art fair now aims to extend the spectrum of formats currently present in Berlin, not only by throwing a spotlight on Berlin’s contemporary art scene and bright new positions, but also by showing current and established art. The aim of the fair is thus to enable a wide-ranging overview of developments in the art market in Berlin.
At the Kaufhaus Jandorf on Brunnenstraße, international art will be on display at a central location in Berlin-Mitte which, as a predecessor of the famous KaDeWe and a one-time “house of fashion”, looks back on an interesting and eventful history. Only recently has this structure from the period of promoterism been available as a fair location, and it attracts the art, design and fashion scenes in equal measure. In close collaboration with Leise Design from Frankfurt, the exhibition floors of the department store are furnished with a sustainable exhibition architecture made up of booths and solo walls which react to the space and bind it into the presentation as a whole.
