Paris, France (June 29, 2015) – On Saturday, artists, musicians, designers, skateboarders and the industry gathered together to celebrate the launch of the Vault by Vans x Takaski Murakami collection at the Hotel du Grand Veneur. Paris. Famed art dealer, Emmanuel Perrotin, curated the space in his own gallery, which showcased new pieces created by Murakami just for the event. Murakami transformed the Vans canvas that was used in his footwear capsule into more than 30 unique pieces of art, painting Vans x Murakami in various ways across the smiling flower and skull canvases.

Keeping with the outwardly lighthearted theme of Murakami’s work, two large-scale carnival games dominated the space and were enveloped with Murakami’s whimsical smiling flowers. In true Vans fashion, winners of the games took home a pair of the coveted Vault by Vans Slip-Ons and skateboard decks from the collection. To round out the evening, guests were treated to catering by Top Chef, Pierre Sang Boyer and a special performance by Ghostpoet.
