Westbourne Park 1975

a new soul of mischief

Westbourne Park 1975: In an era of austerity disillusioned young men, aware that British society could offer them little in the way of education and employment began to use fashion as a way of giving them social standing amongst peers. Their way of bringing together so many varying styles created an individual identity that young working class men, in the absence of anything else, sought to aspire towards. The Sticksmen, as they became known, brought together a style that often comprised of Italian knitwear, Farah hopsack trousers and snakeskin shoes.

For this season Farah draws inspiration from the Sticksmen’s ethos to create a collection that pays homage to these pioneers of style and looks beyond the clothing to draw influence from club night posters, carnival sound systems and record sleeves to capture the vibrancy of life in Westbourne Park in 1975.
