mermaids

Why should urban art be only for pedestrians? Sean Yoro, aka Hula, paints women half emerged from the sea on his native island of Hawaii. The murals are painted along the concrete walls of ruined and abandoned structures, which gives a total new poetic and peaceful vision. To reach the spots, he paddles on a surfboard to find the best locations for his art, even managing to balance his paint cans as well.

The imagery of women graciously emerging from water has been used in the art, movies and photography for decades. Before this very unorthodox series of murals he had already made a name for himself with portraits of women painted on canvas and even on old surfboards.
