MONDAY MIXTAPE: BARTELLOW

"Pioniergeist Musik"

It’s quite uncommon for us to have a mix contribution by such a versatile musician as this week’s monday mixtape. Beni Brachtel a.k.a. Bartellow reigns all areas of sound, from dancefloor to ambient, from jazz to classical, genre barriers simply seem not to exist. Music is music is music. He studied jazz and composition, found access to all styles through improvisation which led him to such diverse output such as being one part of Tambien (ESP Institute), (whose other two members did another superb mix for us some weeks ago), he’s playing synths for Pollyester (Permanent Vacation, Gomma) whose new album will be released on Disko B and Schamoni end of January. Another project, Columbus, is out on Schamoni just since a few days. And then there’s his Opera „Bluthochzeit“ in Bregenz, which premieres tomorrow, 13th of January. An Opera? Yes, but it doesn’t stop here: he composes and produces film scores out of Munich, where he works and lives, running his label SVS, whose artists collective build up a temporary studio in a lodge in the Alps once a year. And he’s part of a jazz band.

Astonishingly enough in between this about to burst schedule Beni found the time to deliver a mix full of amazing ambient, weird, early and contemporary electronic music that - if you’ve read attentional until here - sums up all of the above. We’re more than delighted about this mix.
