Monday Mixtape: Jochen Discomeyer

Back To Piauí

You might be familiar with the name Jochen Discomeyer if you’re from the Berlin area, as he’s a household name in the real underground club and festival scene far away from the tourist clubs that everyone from Sydney to Puerto Rico can recite mechanically in sleep. Born and raised in the suburbs of the city, he soon - maybe too soon - got in contact with House and Techno at Tresor and E-Werk in the 90s and since then his desire to dig for the untypical, the remote areas of this sound and electronic music in general became obsessive. Obscurities from everything inbetween Disco, House, Funk, Psych, Soft-Rock, Balearic, Electronica, Afro and World Music is something like a pet issue for him as he seems to get bored by the typical club sound after some minutes.

For us he’s been focusing on Brazilian pearls he found over the years. He got infused by a Tim Maia compilation, a guy that’s known to give away a hundred tabs of acid to the staff of his record label, later got into some weird UFO-cult and since then only wore white - including his guitars. A good bunch of superb reissues that came out lately helped Jochen to complete a suave and delightful mix that probably fits better into a sunday afternoon than a monday. Ok, it definetly won’t kill you on a monday neither.
Enjoy!
