If You Ask Me.... It's About The Soul

Curated by Ricky Powell

The Lazy Hustler aka Ricky Powell has curated a massive group show, “If You Ask Me…. It’s About The Soul,” which opened earlier this week at Sacred Gallery downtown.

The exhibition features photographs culled from Powell’s 30 years of prints as well as work from more than 50 other artists, or “young bucks,” as Powell recently referred to them. Powell has been taking pictures professionally since '85. Known as one of the leading photographers of the NY music scene, especially rap and hip hop, Ricky has shot numerous acts including Run DMC, the Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, and Method Man. Powell's work has been published in The New York Times, the New York Post, Time, Lodown, Newsweek, VIBE, The Source, Rolling Stone, and many other publications. He currently lives and works in the West Village.

“If You Ask Me…. It’s About The Soul” is on view at the Sacred Gallery through April 2. (424 Broadway 2nd Floor - Between Canal and Howard - SoHo - NYC, NY 10013)
