Castor Gallery Downtown hosts an exhibition of early work by Jonathan Leder, featuring 120 intimate portraits shot on Polaroid film. The photographs were taken over a five year period, and are rarely exhibited to the public. Jonathan Leder explores a vintage aesthetic and portrays models like Emily Ratajkowski or Allie Leggett before they were blowing up on the celebrity lists.
His subjects perform with confidence and a sense of self awareness, revealing the comfortability and intimacy that the photographer employs within his practice. Locations are reminiscing of road trips and vacations while capturing the essence of youth, freedom, liberation and hedonism.
Opening reception will be held on Thursday Feb 9th at Castor Gallery, 254 Broome St, New York, NY 10002 from 6-9 PM with the attendance of Emily Ratajkowski.
