MONDAY MIXTAPE: ALEK LEE

"The Crack Cocaine Mix"

Just in case you’ve missed him playing over last weekend in Berlin at the Malka Tuti & Monticule Festival on saturday or at Kater Blau Kiosk on sunday (maybe just because you’re reading this from somewhere else on this planet - or another planet), here’s a transmission from Tel Aviv’s bubbling DJ/ Producer/ Performer Ori Kenneth a.k.a. Alek Lee.

Alek has been deeply involved in the city’s nightlife for over the past decade as a club owner, booker & promoter, and as a resident DJ for some of the most hyped and established venues in Tel Aviv (Michatronix, Alphabet Club and more).

Full of passion, drive and intuition, armed with skills & experience from years in the music scene, Alek Lee has taken a step farther in the studio, releasing independently, unofficial re-edits and original tracks, that rapidly found their way into top local & international DJ sets, mixtapes & radio shows.

His eclectic-psychedelic-middle eastern-smokey debut ‘Sfarot’, was out last year via the highly appreciated French label Antinote, soon followed by his self released ‘Gever Amiti’ (‘Real Man’) in late 2017 and ‘Public Solitude’ on Rhythm Section’s new Donation compilation for Dominca beginning of this year. His second EP on Antinote Records will be out in spring.

Aside from his work as a Dj/Producer, Alek is a versatile key player in Tel Aviv’s music scene: From video producing and editing (Yotam Avni, Mor Elian, Xen, Cohenbeats) to playing percussions for local bands (Red Axes, Abrao) and as one third of Shame on Us (Hivern Discs).

Keep an eye and ear on him. It’s worth it. And enjoy this mix about which he says „Don’t do drugs! Unless you have to!“
