MONDAY MIXTAPE: SEAHAWKS

summer groove mixtape

The only thing better than spending a lazy, hot and humid day in the sun where you aimlessly let your mind wander while having a couple of drinks, is doing exactly that but with the right musical company. Enter: Seahawks. Founded in 2009 by Lo Recordings chief-honcho Jon Tye and artist/illustrator Pete Fowler, the duo already surpassed the status of a best kept secret-thing a long time ago, thanks to their ever adventurous sails on solar winds, limited editions, hand-printed sleeves, and steadily increasing output of high quality mixes, EPs, and albums.

Their latest horizontal masterpiece goes by the name of “Paradise Freaks“, which features collaborations with Tim Burgess, Maria Minerva, Indra Dunis, and Nick Nicely and was released on their own Ocean Moon imprint this spring. “It's the kind of record Jonathan Wilson might have made if he'd grown up listening to Cluster, Cerrone and Jerry Garcia or if Connan Mockasin had ended up on stage jamming with a prime time Doobie Brothers.“ Well, there’s nothing to add here.

Check their exclusive mix for our Monday Mixtape series out below... and don't forget to check out our interview with them in our current issue, Lodown #92.
