"Here’s some facts about Wunderwaffel, as chances are high you haven’t heard about him yet unless you’re living in the Berlin (or Dresden) area or you’re digging deep enough in the internet for obscure mixes.  Please note that it might not be objective as he’s a good friend and my DJ-partner for some years now:

He’s a good guy with a musical knowledge that might blow up the archives of Rolling Stone, NME, Spin and the BBC - especially when it comes to the obscure, the remote, the stuff that falls in between the cracks. There’s a lot of DJs out there that know a good thing or two about the history of dance music. Most of them stop around Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder or maybe some early 70s funk. Not for Woody, as friends call him. 60s garage, early psych, weirdo rock, the true pioneers of electronic music of the 50s, soundtracks of all B- and C-movies of the world, even (or especially) when they still were black and white - he knows it. He has them. And when it comes to digging, he’s got the midas touch (or probably it’s just luck). Give him a stack of horrible, shitty records and he’ll definetly find one tune that makes the cut.

And then there’s the DJing: the most funnest part with him. I never had a partner that did fit so well. May it be picking the right records to answer mine, sensing the crowd’s subconscious needs to keep them going, building up a set or not wanting to stop even after a 16-hour-set. It’s just plain fun and entertainment spinning with Wunderwaffel, finding the danceable and disco infused anchor points of psych, kraut, techno, rock and the weird.

And I know he has a soft spot for surf music. So the other day we had this office talk about featuring a surf mix in our podcast section when Marok came back from his last surf trip. For me it was apparent that Wunderwaffel would hit the nail. So we asked him. And yeah, he did. He nailed it." - Skism
