WOLFMAN

MAD WOMAN

Sensual. Sweaty. Sex something. Smokey summer soliloquy. Dusky. Dusty. Delectable, deep dispatch. A delicacy! I wish I could go on like this ...  But unfortunately, my free-association exercise just caught a cul-de-sac, and I still got tons of other things to review. Sure! I could get my shredded copy of Webster’s Dictionary out and chip away at it for a minute – which would def. be fun – but time is scarce, especially in June! I got some serious barbecues to attend to later. You gotta do what you gotta do, right?! But before I get my BBQ, homemade guacamole and salsa on, the point I would love to drive home is that this new track from a duo called Wolfman is a fucking delight! Not only the track itself, but also the video. For obvious reasons it reminds me of Maxinquaye-era Tricky. You can almost smell the dank smoke mixed with sex straight through the screen. It’s a love song, technically, but it’s a perverse and murky take on it. It’s hypnotic. It’s a gritty, twisted urban blues song that will seep straight through your pores. And fuck you up lovely while its at it!

BTW – did y’all know that Tricky is officially a Berliner now? He is indeed! If you hear that raspy, deep voice at your local bakery, don’t be surprised! Is Berlin the new Bristol now? I guess it’s everything plus what you want it to be at any given time. That’s the beauty of our little Boogied Down! Right? And yo, I wouldn’t mind if Massive Attack were to move out here and settle down, as well. They could reconnect with Tricky, fly in a few more heads in and resurrect the infamous Wild Bunch collective. Imagine them rolling out their sound system every year for The Carnival of Cultures! Or maybe they could get a residency spot at the Berghain Kantine? I personally wouldn’t mind. Digressions aside, Mad Woman is one hell of a release and we are honoured that we got first dibs and get to deliver it to the rest of the world now.

Wolfman consist of Katerina Stoykova and Angelo Repetto. Strangely enough, they are based in Zürich, not Bristol! This is their first single from a new LP set to drop this coming fall on Irascible Records. The video was directed by Hans-Jakob Mühlethaler. Stay tuned, stay high and stay chill by the grill. And if you’re into guacamole, make sure to buy your avocados from a reliable source!
